Fitness Builds Confidence: Eddie Peng’s Lessons on Strength

September 5, 2025

Sometimes people ask, “Why do you work out?”

To me, running is simple—it’s just putting your left foot in front of your right foot. Nothing complicated. But here’s the difference: if, before going to work, I take 20 minutes for Pilates or half an hour for running, I check off a plan I set for myself. I drink my coffee, I check again. And suddenly, my day feels different—I feel more confident.

That confidence carries into everything. When I meet someone new, when I see my boss, I feel stronger. Because if I’ve already pushed myself through 40 minutes of hard training, what could possibly defeat me that day?

But if I set a goal of 40 minutes and quit after 5 minutes, that’s not about the workout—that’s about me giving up. Life is full of talented people, and sometimes you realize how small you are compared to the world. So the real question is: how do you stand out?

Nothing worthwhile comes instantly. But I believe if I’m willing to learn, willing to work hard, and willing to keep going, then I can achieve what I love. Why complain? Why doubt? My inner belief is strong—I constantly remind myself: I can do this.

Growth comes from experience. If you never try, you never feel that spark inside you. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow, to learn, to improve. People chase perfection, but there’s no such thing as “perfect.” What matters is having the courage to choose, to not regret, and to keep moving forward.

Even in the darkest moments, I remind myself: when you’ve reached rock bottom, the only way left is up. That’s when change begins.

Yes, the journey is hard. But when you find joy in the struggle, the hardship disappears. That’s when life becomes exciting. So go—fight for it, give it your all.
